There is another dimension, however, to the twentieth century mass-produced rubber stamp, a dimension that encompasses earlier centuries and marking devices: the cartouche of Egypt, the stone seals of Minoan Crete, the signet rings and printers' marks of medieval Europe, the wooden and soapstone chops of the Orient.

Voila! the rubber stamp as image-maker, as tool of artistic expression, as means of instant identification, as creative implement...the Robinson Crusoe footprint in the sand...the personal symbol of self...words or image that make a statement about the maker of the mark...instant art.

And so, Ladies & Gentlemen...
